Essoldo House

Set within the conservation area of buildings of special and historic interest, Essoldo House is no exception to this with its rich architectural and cultural history. Originally built in the early 20th Century as the King’s Picture Playhouse, Essoldo House’s dramatic shape and distinctive curved façade have made it a landmark on Chelsea’s King’s Road.

The multi-purpose redevelopment pays homage to the building’s history as the former Essoldo Cinema, retaining the Essoldo name as well as housing a cinema on the same site as the residential complex. 

Gira X1

Developed specifically for Smart Homes with a KNX System, the Gira X1 connects a variety of devices and monitors automated processes.

Each apartment features its own Gira X1 server, making home automation with a KNX system more convenient and economic with automated schedules that can be tailored to daily routines. Delivering a higher level of individualisation, the recent system extension also provides users with admin rights, allowing them to adjust individual settings as well as scenes.

As part of the service provided by Carbon Integration, scenes are tailored to each resident upon moving in, and residents are taught how to edit scenes and settings within the Smart Home configuration to ensure that they are able to control and tailor their Smart Home to suit their lifestyle at any time.

The Gira X1 also connects the KNX System to the audio system installed in the apartments, integrating the Sonos speakers with the network, to enable audio control via the Gira Pushbutton Sensor 3 switches, as well as the Gira G1 and the Gira Smart Home app. 

Gira S1

The Gira S1 provides a secure encrypted connection for remote access and has been updated to allow VPN connectivity and compatibility with KNX Secure.

When used in conjunction with the Gira X1 or Gira HomeServer, the Gira S1 will allow residents to securely connect to and control their apartment from anywhere in the world with the Gira Smart Home app. 

Gira G1: Intelligent Control Centre

Each apartment features a Gira G1, a multi-functional operating device which can intuitively control all Smart Home functions within the apartment. 

Working in conjunction with the Gira X1, the KNX touch screen controls the environment reliably and intelligently, including Lighting Control, Blind Control and Temperature Control, as well as air conditioning and an integrated room temperature controller that is connected to the Gira Push Button Sensor 3 Comfort devices in each room. 

Gira Smart Home App

For ultimate control and user convenience, the Gira Smart Home app can be installed on mobile devices, allowing users to control their home remotely.  

Each apartment has been kitted with a tablet that is pre-installed with the Gira app for mobile, central control. As each apartment has its own Gira X1, residents are also able download the Gira Smart Home app onto their smart devices which, combined with the Gira S1, allows them to control all system functions from anywhere.  

The latest update has extended the range of options available on the app, including interface personalisation, set up complete scenes, or increased third party integration compatibility.

Gira E2: Timeless Design, Modern Functionality

With its sleek lines and minimalist style, the Gira E2 Design Line was chosen in Stainless Steel for small power throughout the residential complex.    

The Stainless-Steel frames of the Gira E2 collection match the Stainless-Steel finish chosen for the Gira Pushbutton Sensor 3 Comfort switches, and are complemented by a mix of Stainless Steel and Matt Black switches, sockets and outlets for a monochrome finish.

Gira Pushbutton Sensor 3: Convenient Control

To achieve complete control for complex functionality, the designers opted for Gira Pushbutton Sensor 3 switches integrated with the KNX Smart Home system throughout the apartments.

These switches are installed with pre-set scenes controlling multiple functions, including lighting and blind control, which have been custom engraved for the redevelopment with Gira’s Inscription Service.

Flexible and innovative, the future-proof system allows scenes to be tailored to each resident upon moving in whilst its user-friendly nature enables residents to alter scenes themselves if required.      

Every room has Gira Pushbutton Sensor 3 Comfort switches, as well as a Gira Pushbutton Sensor 3 Plus which features an internal temperature sensor that is connected to the climate control system. These sensors measure the room’s temperature and communicates with the KNX system to control the temperature of that room.     

The LED backlit, integrated display provides a convenient overview of the room temperature and temperature control, whilst also maintaining the buttons to allow convenient manual operation alongside the digital Smart Controls within the Gira G1 and the Gira Smart Home app. 

Smart Lighting with Gira Motion Detectors

Gira Motion Detectors are installed in all of the bathrooms in the redevelopment for convenient Automatic Lighting Control.

With the Gira Motion Detector, the lights switch on automatically when activated, based on motion and ambient brightness levels. When no motion is detected, it automatically switches the light off again. With this switch-off feature, the intelligent lighting helps to reduce energy consumption and reduce energy costs.

Gira Dual Q Smoke Detectors

In keeping with the redevelopment’s focus on state-of-the-art features and premium products, Gira’s smoke detectors were chosen to provide the highest standard of protection for residents and their properties.

The smoke detectors feature a “Q” label, standing for highest quality standards: a long lifespan, less deceptive alarms, and increased stability. Based on the photoelectric scattered light principle, the devices register small smoke particles and trigger an alarm as soon as the threshold value is exceeded. This technology also reduces the risk of false alarms or being triggered by cooking fumes, dust, or electronic interference.
