“Wandsworth’s attention to detail and flexibility led to great results.”

The London Hilton on Park Lane is one of the city’s finest landmarks. Built in 1963 by American architect William Tabler, the 28-storey tower has sweeping views across London, and is a revolutionary architectural statement of its time. Opening at the height of the Sixties, it was chosen by the Beatles for meeting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and was home of the much-loved Trader Vic’s, a hang-out for the cocktail set. In 2012, during the London Olympics, it played host to the International Committee.
From 2022, the 60-year-old building underwent a major refurbishment, reopening in 2024. In its new incarnation, the hotel interior echoes the work of Hilton design icon Inge Beck. It has 453 luxurious bedrooms; conference facilities, a fitness facility, sauna and steam rooms, the Park Corner brasserie; and an award-winning bar, Revery, that combines music and mixology.
“We wanted to make it as streamlined a process as possible for our clients… conscious of the importance of meeting standards, at scale. We were determined to deliver in every room, every time.”
– Nev Norval, Wandsworth Group
Wandsworth were invited to support G.A. Design and JK Interiors, who reimagined the hotel interior, restoring a note of the building’s heyday inside a scheme of contemporary luxury, employing high-quality materials and soft edges to give depth and warmth. Colour palettes reflect the deep, lush tones of the English countryside.
Steve Barber, Wandsworth’s Senior Design Manager, was conscious of the importance of installing products that combined elegance with innovation. “London Hilton Park Lane represents the best of London; its vibrant traditions and outward-facing spirit. We took the lead from G.A. Design and JK Interiors in our work, listening to their brief to help perfect each of the different spaces.”
Colleague Nev Norval, Wandsworth’s Specifications and International Sales Manager, who also worked on the refurbishment, including a suite of meeting rooms, says: “We wanted to make it as streamlined a process as possible for our clients, and we were conscious of the importance of meeting standards, at scale. We were determined to deliver in every room, every time.”

The hotel reopened ahead of schedule as a premium destination, with a surge in bookings for the King’s Coronation. Work was filmed for Inside the Hilton: Park Lane, by Paramount and Channel Five, showing ‘the unsung heroes, the artisans and craftsmen who meticulously brought the hotel’s vision to life,’ according to Salon Privé. Later, Revery received the Best Bar and Restaurant Award at the 2024 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.
“It was a privilege to work on such an iconic site,” says Steve Barber, at Wandsworth, “Our factory team made a series of 10 different bespoke plates including brushed brass and satin steel to match design in each room or suite, making sure the sockets offered range for guests bringing accessories from around the world. We incorporated curtain controls, and new USB capabilities, and are delighted that these features blend so well into the interiors.”
“It was a real pleasure to work with Wandsworth on the refurbishment of Hilton Park Lane. Their attention to detail and flexibility on site led to such great results,” says Joanna Knight, of JK Interiors.
