Making a Statement: How Bold Colours are in for 2019

May 17, 2019

Some people shy away from bold colours in their home, preferring a more muted and simpler colour scheme. However, bold colours are huge in interior design for 2019. A large wall in a statement colour is the best way to make a big impact in a room. But which colour to choose? This blog will list a few of the most on trend bold colours for 2019 to give you some inspiration.

Pink

Pantone’s colour of the year for 2019 is Living Coral. This is a bright, vibrant pink shade which brings a fun and playful feeling to any space in which it is used. Another pink hue which is incredibly popular at the minute is ‘Millennial Pink’. This is a very pale candy floss pink which can be used to create a sophisticated, high-end look. The most famous example of this at the moment is the increasingly popular London restaurant Sketch, which evokes an 18th century tea room with modern twists, all in a beautiful blush pink.

Gold/Metallics

Gold will always be a statement: a colour that signifies wealth and opulence. The bright, reflective qualities of gold also make it a great shade to have in any room. It adds a bold element to the space whilst also opening it up and making it feel brighter. All metallic shades are moving into the forefront of interior design this year, with copper and silver tones also becoming very popular.

The latest trend is to put different metallic shades together in one place to contrast them. This is the perfect opportunity to involve your furniture and accessories in your statement design. Try a silver chair next to a bronze table, or a nickel light switch on a gold wall. Wandsworth switch plates are available bespoke, so you could even take it further and choose bronze switches on silver plates.

Black/Navy

Once a total no-no in the interior design world, black and dark navy walls are becoming a huge trend. One statement wall in a room painted black or a dark shade of blue gives the room a really striking look. It also looks amazing with bright, metallic accessories. For example, adding a brass switch plate to that wall, or placing a tall copper floor lamp in front of it.

Jewel Tones

Furnish your bold room with pieces in jewel tones for the ultimate on-trend look. Think ruby red, emerald green and sapphire blue. These deep, saturated colours are perfect for really standing out and making a room really something special. Velvet furnishings are popular right now but the options are endless. Find furniture that suits you and your styles in these tones that pop out and your room will endlessly turn heads.
